Food: Madam Lim's Kitchen

Gua and I were supposed to go eat somewhere in Bandar Sri Permaisuri when he decided to turn into Jusco Maluri, out of the blue. He wanted to go to this restaurant:

Madam Lim's, located at the back of Jusco Maluri...

So, as per usual, he'd ordered plenty of food (just like at Pappa Rich), while I order the normal amount, and yet he's a walking skeleton... sigh...

Spicy Sambal Prawn with Petai, which was matched with....

Two plates of rice...

And seaweed soup...

which technically, he shared with me...

My food - Ginger Beef Noodle ...

and of course, Chicken Wings

The chicken wings was nothing to shout about. Seaweed soup was quite nice. My beef noodle thingy was a bit sour-y but still okay. The beef was aplenty...
Venue: Madam Lim's Kitchen, Jusco Maluri
Cost: About RM40

1. Answer the questions below and put the link of the person who tagged you <-- Panzer, done...

2. Tag 5 people and let them know by leaving a message in their blog <-- hmm, who do I tag... _________________________________________________

My idea of going on a date would be... dinner and a movie

The worst punishment my parents gave me was... nothing much... slaps to the face here and there and there was that time when they took red chilis and stuffed it in my mouth coz I neglected to tell them the truth about something, which I don't recall what it was now... but I am not traumatized since my mom's food are a lot hotter/spicier than the red chilis... the worst punishment was turning me into a latchkey kid... because I... was the dutiful child who follows instructions without question or care...

My most extravagant splurge in the last six months is... a toss-up between a couple pairs of Timberland shoes and my bowling ball (which I am still unable to use up until now...)

If I can have a super-ability, I'd want to have... projectile powers like Jubilee's Plasma Blasts/Fireworks or Meredith Gordon's Flames or Elle Bishop's Electricity or Piper Halliwell's Molecular Accelaration... Super Strength is awesome too but that would mean I would have to do hand-to-hand and personally pummel my opponent... maybe that's would be more satisfying eh? But I'd rather just look and them, scoff, and blast them to death... vampires of the world, beware...

KL is... home...

My influences in life are... creative people who create masterpieces that I admire like Joss Whedon who created Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Rob Thomas who created Veronica Mars, Anthony Horowitz who created The Power of Five, Anne Rice who created The Vampire Chronicles, my mom who created culinary confections...

I have climbed the highest mountain on earth and found the wisest man in the entire galaxy. And I can ask him only one question. I am going to ask him... "why can't you stay in an apartment like everybody else? wait, no, that wasn't the question I wanted to ask... I was just breathless and frustrated from all that climbing... can I get another chance to ask? No, that's not the question either!! I wanted to ask... wait, where you going? What do you mean I can't ask anymore? I've asked four questions?? Five?? Six?? Aaarrrgggghhh!!!"

My wishes for 2009 would be that... no one takes me for granted and for my parents to be healthy and for my mom to chill and not drive me away...

Lastly, I'd like to be remembered by... my creativity and wit

Food : Pappa Rich

One fine day after work, Gua and I went to Pappa Rich in Bandar Sri Permaisuri (down the street from my place jer)...

I had been at the Permaisuri one a few times with the others but we've never really had dinner there. Mostly just go there for drinks coz their drink menus are pretty good.

Soya Bean with Gula Melaka (Panzer thinks the Soya Bean is Vsoy...)
Iced Red Bean, looks like a drink but more like a dessert

Forgot the name of this... but basically it was
kueytiaw soup with steamed chicken (I love steamed chicken!)
Please note that all of the below photos are Gua's orders. I put this disclaimer forth so that people would know that I am not that big an eater, even though I am big. Gua's a walking skeleton but he eats more than me... behold...

Gua's Kopi (or was it Cham?)

Gua's Mee Kari

Gua's Roti Kaya with Butter

Gua's Steamed Pau

Gua's Half Boiled Eggs

Gua's Soybean Balls
Phew! Okay, okay, he does give me some of the food, but only a tiny piece. And he polished em all off... not a single strand or drop left... dasat and he's only like this tiny man...

Oh, the food was pretty good and satisfying indeed...

Food: Subway

Yesterday went to Times Square to meet up with Panzer. Supposed to have my bowling ball fixed coz there's a tourney next month at Sunway Pyramid.

I don't fancy Sunway Pyramid Bowling coz I can't use the house balls. So if I wanna join the tourney, I need to fix the damn ball.

Anyways, the shop was closed and Panzer went for a Thai massage. So I surfed online at Starbucks and opened Facebook and layan-ed my latest addiction: Pet Society.

After that, we headed to Subway for dinner. Did you guys know that Subway has a new promotion?

The new promo
Sub of the Day for RM7.50.

Mondays: Italian BMT, Tuesdays: Tuna, Wednesdays: Meatball Marinara, Thursdays: Turkey Breast and Turkey Ham, Fridays: Smoked Turkey, Saturdays: Seafood and Crab and finally Sundays: Chicken Teriyaki.

I had the Meatball Sub... honestly, I don't know how people can eat that properly... the meatballs kept evading my mouth... either I take one whole meatball in or I just get the bread...

In other news, a musical guest appeared at the office today. Fresh off of Juara Lagu (even though he did not win), Aizat came for an interview. At the end of the hour, he sang live Lagu Kita... after that, we all took turns and posed with him... he's talented and cool... :)

Again, one of the outings during Christmas breaks... I thought all of the photos were destroyed in the virus attack... my new thumbdrive easily succumbs to virus attacks and I always lose photos and/or documents... but these survived...

We went here after a game of bowling at Times Square... this food court is situated behind Lot 10... next time I go there I'll take more photos and make sure I upload immediately...

Mussels in hot garlic sauce

Lala in sweet sour sauce

Shrimp in thick curry sauce

We normally eat these with fried rice... delicious...

Food: Izzi 75%

Izzi's 75% Discount Menu... Again! :)

Beef Lover's Pizza (or something to that effect)

Calamari (obvious choice)

Viatnamese Beef Noodle
The Beef Noodle is new. There's plenty of beef. In fact, more than the noodles. :)
The pizza was nice. I love the beef strips. Although I couldn't finish it (too much beef noodle + calamari), I polished off the toppings.
This was taken during Christmas break... heheheh...
Venue: Izzi Bukit Bintang
Cost: RM25 + refillable drink

P/S - Izzi is not paying me to post this in my blog... though I wish they would... I love eating at Izzi (*hint hint*)

Food: Nasi Lemak

After watching Ip Man last year, me and Gua went to Bukit Indah in Ampang for some nasi lemak. He asked if I wanted 5 packets and I was shocked at the insinuation until I saw the size of each packet...

Small bunch or hugigantitanic hand?

The name of the restaurant is Nasi Lemak Marvelous I think. By the time we got there, the lauks were all gone so we had to share sambal sotong. Between the two of us, we polished off 10 of those tiny babies...

Venue: Restoran Nasi Lemak Marvelous
Cost: RM0.70 per packet

Tag: Cute 3logger

1) Copy badge "2008 Cute's Blogger Award" di atas untuk diletak kan di blog anda.

Done

2) Link/Ceritakan kembali siapa yang memberikan award ini kepada anda.

Gua tagged me... Actually it was Sankai first but he did not let me know in this blog's comments or the shoutbox, which was clearly rule #5... so Gua is the official 'tagger'

3. Setiap blogger mesti menyatakan 10 fakta/hobi diri sendiri sebelum memilih penerima award seterusnya (anda di-tag).

Here goes...

#1 - I studied in America for a number of years...which was where I developed my liking for being a ...

#2 - Foodie... yes, I love to eat but I am also a cook, scratch that, I love to cook, not a very good one apparently coz Sankai always complained about my cooking whenever I invite him over... I do, however, come from a very long line of cooks... so cooking's in my blood and I enjoy watching separate entities merging together to be something extraordinary... plus, if I did not learn how to cook properly, I won't be able to eat good spicy food, coz American food are the opposite of Asian/Malay food... we'd all go back to my place after a game of bowling for some Asian cuisines, which brings us to the next fact...

#3 - Bowling... I love bowling. Played a couple of games in Malaysia before my friend Emily took me bowling during Thanksgiving break. It was cold and snowy so a game of bowling was the thing we needed to get warm... Bowling was cheap there. There was 99cent per game Tuesday/Wednesday Nights, 25cent per game + 5 dollars cover charge on College Night Thurdays, $7 for two hours of cyber bowling (glow in dark thingy) Fridays and Saturdays... needless to say, most of my free time was spent at the bowling alley...

Twas a good thing too coz I dun drink so bar-hopping was off the table... it was either bowling, or watching movies at Tinseltown... which brings us to the next fact...

#4 - Movie buff ... there was always a new movie out every week there and you're spoilt for choice and it was cheap too... if there isn't a movie that tickles your fancy, you could always go to Blockbuster and rent something, new or old, they'd have it... and the cinema was not too far away from my place, the university or Walmart, where I'd go shopping... which brings us to the next fact...

#5 - Shoppaholic... I love shopping... I attribute this fact to my childhood (not blaming anyone) where we rarely get anything new, except for school stuff because we grow quickly and new uniforms/shoes needed to be bought but never casual clothes or shoes, it was all hand-me-downs... we were not rich, food was rarely scarce, but personal belongings were a thing of luxury and an alien concept to us...

Sometimes when we have some money and my parents decided to buy us something new, it'd be a moot point since nothing fits me... nothing within the budget that is... so I've adopted Faith's mantra, "Want, Take, Have"... which brings us to the next point...

#6 - Faith, or more accurately, Buffy the Vampire Slayer... I love this show and anything attached to it... I have every season on DVD and all the books... I even follow the Season 8 comics, which is damn awesome! A show that cleverly blends drama, comedy, horror, action, angst, romance, magic, fantasy and the supernatural, BtVS took the pretty blond girl from the horror movies that always gets killed and gave her power to fight back... hey, any show that dares to kill off its main character in its first season is okay by me...

Joss Whedon, the creator of BtVS is my idol. He turned a silly 1992 movie into a cult classic. Case in point: the episode Hush where everyone's voice was stolen and they spend 3/4 of the episode without talking... the acting was good and the writing genius... which brings us to the next fact...

#7 - I love to write... in fact, if I were more disciplined, I'd have a finished manuscript by now... I write mostly fiction with leanings towards the supernatural...

I used to hide my writings to myself but after my stint in the States, where I took an English minor, I got a bit more confidence and began asking people to read some... and since then, I had shown my work to others... especially since my blogs are being read by a lot of people, but then again, it could be because of the subject matter... anyway, it gives me confidence, which brings us to the next fact...

#8 - Low confidence... yes, I have low confidence/self-esteem. Suffered this since childhood, well into adulthood. Actually, come to think of it, when I was in primary school, I was quite active and hyper but as soon as I get older, I get more and more withdrawn and shy. It could be contributed to the fact that I was slowly ballooning. Did not help matters when my blossoming body was constantly made fun of, even at home.

Oh, don't even get me started on my skin color, which is still a sensitive issue. I am the only one with Beyonce (berangan sangat...) skin while the rest are all Malay-hued. Bullies in the shape of cousins or relatives would mercilessly tease me about my skin color. I was already painfully aware of being the odd one out. So I made it a point to turn into Sue Storm. No, I did not inspire to look like Jessica Alba. I wanted to be invisible. A wall-flower. For the longest time, I was not able to project my voice loudly, which was such a hindrance when it comes to singing... and you guessed it, brings us to our next plot point...

#9 - Singing... Karaoke, to be exact... when I was a kid, I was chosen to be in the school choir and I even represented the school in a Quran-reciting competition... but I lost all my edge when I lost my confidence...

Friends have been pushing me hard to find a singing confidence and last year, I managed to sing wholethroatedly... thanks to one special friend, one close friend and several colleagues, I have the confidence to sing and I love singing...

#10 - Hmm, can't find the link from singing to this... oh well... twas a good try eh? The tenth fact is gaming. I love gaming. I have an X-Box at home, which I bought because it was the only platform that carried BtVS back then. I was a PS guy before. I do dabble with PC games sometimes but I am hopeless at arcades. I just can't work them sticks. I do love a good shooting game though. Still trying to find people who enjoy shooting. Arcade shooting that is.

Bonus #11 - Heh, I am feeling generous and share-y. I've shot a semi auto rifle before and I was the most proficient in the family, except for the uncle who owns it of course.

Every summer back in the States, they'd organize this Renaissance Fair where people get all dolled up in medieval costumes and act like they're in the renaissance era. There would be booths where you could practice your skills with medieval weaponry. I was proficient with the bow and arrow. So I am quite natural at shooting stuff. Which made sense since I was told that I hail from a long line of kings, warriors and wizards. This explains my supernatural gifts too...

Oh dear, seems like I've went on and on and on, writer la katakan... I think enough sharing had been done and it's possible that it's not sharing but scaring now...

Food: Fish & Co

While on the public holiday stretch, me and this guy went to One Utama. Originally, we were supposed to go to Ampang Yong Tau Foo near Ampang Point but he wanted to eat here:

Been a while since I last ate at Fish & Co so I went along, plus it was kinda a belated besday dinner thingy anyways. But the traffic was hell. Lucky for me, I was not driving. Parking was even worse! What's worse than hell you ask? Try driving in KL during peak holiday time. Grrr... Lucky it was not me driving... enough rambling, food time...

The sauces

Seafood Cream Soup

Refillable Passion Fruit Drink...
though you have to top up about RM5 for the drinkies to be bottomless

Both have blogs that needed updates...

Mushroom Alfredo

Calamari

New York Fish & Chips
Portions are quite small. That's my only complaint. Otherwise, the food was quite delicious. Especially the calamari, has a spicy kick to it. After dinner, we went to Speedy opposite Fish & Co and I ended buying Ben 10 season 4 and Alien Force.... for my nephew. Yes, that's it. Nephew. I love Alien Force. The kids are grown up and more powerful. Especially Gwen. What? I have to test the discs first. Dun wanna give my nephew faulty discs... :P
Venue: Fish & Co, One Utama
Cost: RM50

Food: Quality Hotel

This has been long overdue. We talked about it but we never got around to actually doing it. So one fine day, um, about two days before the new year, me and the colleagues gathered at Quality Hotel for a dimsum buffet.

The restaurant from where we seated...
Cute dining set...
So here's how it works. They put out the dimsum in these little bamboo baskets and stack em up high on a cart with a steamer underneath. Approach with caution. I mean, pick up with caution. There are other food too, such as noodles, porridge, fruit cocktails, fried stuff and desserts.
Now, I can't exactly remember what was in the dimsum or what it was called... coz I was too busy stuffing my face, it was a lazy time and also, the restaurant did not label the dimsum... twas nice... Enjoy the photos...

Egg Tart (this one I can confirm, ehehhe)

The liquid version of Chawan Mushi
Steamed Ginger Chicken

Steamed Fish with Assam Pedas Sauce
We came in two batches... This was ours...

This was Kam and Rina's...
Venue: Quality Hotel
Cost: RM26 ++ (not including drinkies)
