Bolognaise

During the second week of puasa, during the 3-day Merdeka weekend, I had my friends and colleagues over at my place for buka puasa. I slaved over the electric stove all day to make dinner. Okay, okay, half a day.

One colleague, very the heavily pregnant (worried that she might give birth at my place) asked if I could make her Bolognaise Pasta so I obliged... the ingredients are:

Onions

Tomatoes

Mushrooms

Garlic (left), tomatoes - chopped (right)

Saute-ing the onions

Adding in the tomatoes, mushrooms, garlic

After adding in minced meat and tomato puree

After simmering for a while
(not pictured: ginger, salt, white/black pepper,
worchester sauce, balsamic vinegar, olive oil, oregano, paprika)

The pasta... cook until aldente or soft, rinse,
then reheat again, add butter and a little oregano or basil

Add cheese to the dish

The end product

The pregnant colleague asked me if what I was serving was Prego. I was offended at first but then I realized it was a compliment. Coz it tasted like store bought. International brand even. :)

To tell you the truth, that was my first time trying the recipe and I even tweaked the original recipe a little coz of the red wine...

Chopped

Is now addicted to this show...

Passion and expertise rule the kitchen on the fast-paced new series, Chopped. Hosted by Ted Allen (Food Detectives), the series challenges four up-and-coming chefs to turn a selection of everyday ingredients into an extraordinary three-course meal. After each course, a contestant gets "chopped" until the last man or woman left standing claims victory. Each week, a rotating panel of culinary elite judges including Alex Guarnaschelli, Aaron Sanchez, and Geoffrey Zakarian will decide whose dishes shine the brightest and award the winner $10,000.

Food: Paddington House of Pancakes

Paddington House of Pancakes @ The Curve with Azhar for Buka Puasa. Both of us did not know what to eat or where to go. On a whim, he took us to The Curve and since I haven't tried Paddington, I thought we should. Azhar said food was nice so we decided...
Twas kinda empty when we got there... at 6.30...
Closer to 7, then we see others coming in...

I ordered the vanilla lime kiwi shake... very nice and refreshing

Then, we kinda cannot decide on what to eat... I had my eye on the desserts menu and since it was sinfully delicious, we decided to only get appetizers instead of the main course and have desserts for the mai course... hehehehe... :P

Garlic Shrimp

Calamari (makanan wajib kan...)

Azhar's Treasure Box (which is basically various fruits,
ice cream and mini pancakes, served with syrup)

I ordered the Fondue set, which was basically the same like Treasure Box,
except this dish has marshmallows...

and you dip everything into this delicious chocolate fondue...

Which is this liquid... but I was told to stir it before...

Which turned into this... yummy... as you can imagine... the dipping...

Marshmallows

Mini pancake

Strawberry

Banana

Even stole Azhar's peach and dipped it in...

Very nice indeed... the price was not that bad too... the desserts were 20+ I think... but definitely worth it... :)
