Slightly mediocre movie with two strong female leads... if they had switched roles, Ali Larter playing the wife and Beyonce playing the psycho loony bitch, then it would have been more interesting... Ali Larter's character's descent into loony stalker is not quite as believable... too fast I think... hmmmm...Saturday, July 11, 2009

This Week's Movies
Public Enemy - Johnny Depp, Marion Cotillard, Channing Tatum, Christian Bale, Billy Crudup- the story unfolds during America's Great Depression Era with the focus of FBI agent, Melvin Purvis trying to stop notorious American gangsters like John Dillinger, Baby Face Nelson and Pretty Boy Floyd.
Obsessed - Beyonce Knowles, Ali Larter- A new temp at an asset management firm develops an unhealthy crush on a successful and married businessman.
Mati Suri- In the days leading up to her wedding, Abel (Nadine Chandrawinata) is confronted by a strange pregnant woman who claims she's carrying the child of her fiance, Wisnu (Yama Carlos). Shocked by this revelation, Abel feels that her world is falling apart and decides to kill herself. She fails her suicide attempt and suffers a near death experience. Now troubled and depressed, she finds comfort in her best friend, Charlie (Keith Foo), who asks her to take some time off at a large getaway mansion outside of town. Strange events begin to occur as the house is haunted by apparitions of the dead. Something from Abel's brush with death seems to be following her and the only way she can escape is if she dies once again.
I think I wanna catch Obsessed. Ali Larter and Beyonce fighting over a guy? Catfight! What if suddenly Beyonce breaks into one of her dance moves and Ali Larter freezes her... heheheh...

Food: Michaelangelo's
Went to Michaelangelo's at Pavilion before watching Hannah Montana the Movie with my colleague... had never been there before, so we thought we'd try...
Mural on the restaurant wall
My drink - Italian Soda (Raspberry)
Spaghetti alla Carbonara (with seafood)
Oh, we also ordered Calamari but the pics are quite bad. I blame the lighting of the restaurant. Hehehehe.

The Italian Soda was lovely. I like Italian Soda, especially with Cream and Orange. They call it Orangesicle. Yummy.
My meal was good. The calamari was nice, crispy on the outside, but the sotong itself is not dried out. The soft shell crab with spaghetti was also nice.

Guess it's an Italian restaurant so the pasta would be good, albeit a bit pricey but it's worth it for a special date or celebration.

X-Men
I love the X-Men. Been reading the comics and has watched all the movies and animated series... including:

Pryde of the X-Men
X-Men Evolution
and the latest... Wolverine & The X-Men
However, the old school cartoon is still the best... found it at Rock Corner at The Curve! Although it's not the full series (just season 1 & 2), I still enjoyed re-watching em very much...

Konsert Satu
Awesome concert. Superb vocals. Great performance. She even sang two of my favorite songs, even though it was obscure. It was like she was singing to me and it was a birthday present from her to me. I know, I know. Berangan... but still, it was a nice coincidence... :)Great way to end the birthday celebration...

Oscar Best Picture
Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen should have been called Sam Witwicky & The Transforming Vehicles... sigh... :(
The Oscars will have 10 nominees for Best Picture instead of 5... Read full article...

Transformers 2
Even though I bought tickets for Wednesday's show to watch with colleagues and frens, I jumped at the chance to go see the media preview this morning at GSC Midvalley. There was a bit of commotion/chaos at the registration table. Even though we were media, we did not RSVP, so we were barred from going in. I guess that's fair but we negotiated and they kinda give us false hope by telling us to wait and see if there's still seats. Then, in the end, only two of us were allowed in. Oh well... I felt bad for my colleagues who were turned away...
Anyway, once we were in, we saw plenty of empty seats so it was not fair for my colleagues (and a few others from the media) who were turned away. It's not like we could not afford to get tickets, we just wanna watch it earlier. Hehehhehee.
Okay, on to the movie. The drama and the wait all paid off. Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen delivered. High octane action, plus some funny bits and here and there. Nice summer movie.
The only thing I found a bit off (and kinda ruined the movie experience for me) was the fact that the robots got relegated to the background. Even worse than the first movie. It's like, why bother with the robots at all. Might as well just have the soldiers fight the Decepticons off. The first movie's Decepticons were badasses who could not be tamed by our weaponry.
In this movie, our guns effectively pushed back the onslaught and the robots are just there fighting along side (or behind) the soldiers.
Might as well just name the movie 'Sam Witwicky and his Robot Bitches'... I mean Robot Protectors...
